On Saturday Jan. 21, 2012, Barbara Susan Booth, presented a day long workshop "SoulCollage(r) Introduction" which was generously hosted by Diane Brown at her home in Unionville where the group was served a lovely lunch. On a sunny snow covered winter day, participants travelled from Kingston and Waterloo to Unionville to experience  the creative inspiration of their own soul's wisdom. The energy in the workshop was filled with awe at the creative expression and sense of community that this work manifested. Barbara trained in SoulCollage(r) Facilitation with Seena Frost in California in June 2011 and is hosting Seena to teach a Facilitator's Training in Guelph in September 2012.

The Bookshelf supported the event by having Seena's  latest book "SoulCollage(r) Evolving" available for participants to purchase. The workshop a cost was $84.75 including HST and supplies.

On Thursday Jan. 26, 2012, Miriam MacGillis, OP presented a captivating talk “Embracing the Earth: Living a Mutually-Enhancing Relationship with Earth”. She is a Dominican Sister who co-founded Genesis Farm in 1980. This organic farm and Earth Literacy Centre is receiving much acclaim around the world as is Miriam herself for her contribution to ecological recovery. The fact that she won a Thomas Berry award in 2005 and was rated as one of the 15 green religious leaders of the planet was quite apparent in her informed and impassioned presentation to an appreciative “full-house” at Loyola House in Guelph, Ontario. This event was sponsored by Ignatius Jesuit Centre, Sacred Wisdom Centre and The Guelph Seminar for a $10.00 admission fee.

Friday to Sunday, Feb. 10-12, 2012, Andrew Harvey presented a weekend workshop " Andrew Harvey on Fr. Bede Griffiths: A Meeting of Two Mystics” which was co-sponsored by Wisdom University for course credit.  Andrew’s deep passion for Bede, his beloved “soul father” was clearly evident as he brilliantly wove Bede’s wisdom and his own into a weekend experience never to be forgotten. It was the first time Andrew presented this workshop and it was fresh and alive with radiance.  The workshop cost was $325.00 including HST and was held at St. Brigid’s Villa.

Thursday  March 1, 2012, Anne Kathleen McLaughlin gave a stunning performance of her play “Maud of Cavendish” which she wrote from Lucy Maud Montgomery’s journals. Anne Kathleen embodied Maud’s life so convincingly it felt that Maud was indeed present with us to tell her own story to her closest confidant.  The play was sponsored by Ignatius Jesuit Centre, Sacred Wisdom Centre and The Guelph Seminar.  It was held at Loyola House for a fee of $15.00 per ticket.

Friday March 2, and Saturday March 3, 2012 Anne Kathleen McLaughlin presented a talk and workshop “The Mystic Journey: New and Ancient Pathways towards Radiance”. Her integrated synthesis of her own experience and wisdom with those of her beloved mentor Jean Houston offered the grateful participants a rich and meaningful spiritual journey. These events sponsored by Ignatius Jesuit Centre, Sacred Wisdom Centre and the Guelph Seminar were held at St. Brigid’s Villa for a fee of $15.00 and $75.00 respectively.

For Six Mondays Jan. 30 – Mar. 5, 2012, John Lawson and Barbara Susan Booth facilitated conversations on Cynthia Bourgeault’s fascinating book “Wisdom Jesus”. Engaged experiences of awakened perception unfolded from the inquiry of 10 dedicated participants and the facilitators. The series was $80.00 or $40.00 depending on whether people were currently employed. The meetings were held at the E-Bar generously offered to the group by the Bookshelf.

On Monday April 2, 2012,  Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, known worldwide as "The Gaza Doctor" gave an extremely moving talk from his own experience of tragedy and survival in Palestine, when his three daughters were killed in a 2009 bomb explosion in his own home. After working for years as a Palestinian physician delivering babies in an Israeli hospital, he has been bridging boundaries through medical and educational support of women in countries in conflict. His best-selling book "I Shall Not Hate" opens hearts around the world to a sane way through grief. He received a standing ovation from a 300+ Guelph audience who appreciated his exceptional moral maturity and his invitation for us all to act with responsible integrity in contributing to peace in our world. The talk was held at Harcourt United Church  and sponsored by Sacred Wisdom Centre and The Guelph Seminar for a $15.00 admission fee.

From Friday May 4th to 8th, 2012, Stephen Jenkinson and Elise and Kaleo Ching presented a captivating workshop experience. "The Tangled Garden of Wisdom and Grief". Kaleo skilfully led us in chi kung as morning body prayer to open our hearts and minds to actively receive the teachings of the day. In the morning teaching sessions Stephen magnificently awakened in us his original work of grief's unfolding wisdom struggling to be conscious in our death-phobic culture.

In the afternoon transformational art experience Kaleo and Elise shared their famous guided meditation and mask making talent to lead us into our own creative expression as we made death/rebirth masks. Their exceptional teaching styles including light-hearted fun provided a powerful experience that reached the participants deeply.

The workshop was held at Loyola House, Ignatius Jesuit Centre, Guelph and was sponsored by Sacred Wisdom Centre and Wisdom University for a $650.00 registration fee.

On Thursday May 31, 2012,  Dave Gingerich shared his PowerPoint overview handouts on Jungian summaries of the workings of the Psyche and concluded with an inviting group dialogue on his clinical perspectives using these concepts with clients. The participants’ questions were numerous and Dave invited various perspectives from the participants including two Jungian analysts present. The audience was interested  in the diversity of his clinical practice and his welcome of referrals to his private practice. The talk was held at St. Brigid’s Villa, Ignatius Jesuit Centre  and sponsored by Sacred Wisdom Centre a $17.00 admission fee, including HST.

On Friday evening and all day Saturday June 22-23, 2012,  Joanna Macy presented a ground-breaking workshop “A Journey with Rainer Marie Rilke: Discovering Wellsprings of Beauty and Justice”. Weaving her own journey with Rilke’s poetry from her discovery in Germany over 50 years ago through her moving translations of several volumes of Rilke’s work with co-translator Anita Barrows, Joanna led a captivated group of participants into the experience of Rilke’s soul touching our own. His life and passion came alive through her exceptional work.

The workshop, which was co-sponsored with Wisdom University was held at St. Brigid’s Villa, Ignatius Jesuit Centre for an inclusive fee of $200.00

On Sunday June 24, 2012,  Joanna Macy facilitated a sample of her signature work in the world “An Introduction to The Work That Reconnects”. Twenty-five appreciative participants experienced their own feelings of deep connection to the earth, passion for acting on her behalf and the support that comes from shared wisdom of dedicated companions. It was a privilege to have Joanna once again in Guelph and witness the grace and ease of  true, authentic leadership. The workshop, which was co-sponsored with Wisdom University was held at St. Brigid’s Villa, Ignatius Jesuit Centre for an inclusive fee of $140.00.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday Sept. 28-30, 2012,  Seena Frost and Audrey Chowdhury led an excellent SoulCollage® Facilitators Training in Guelph, Ontario. Seena, the originator of the SoulCollage® process, taught for the first time outside the USA and 35 women were grateful to meet her in person. Seena’s and Audrey’s  polished presentations and welcoming creative invitations were treasured by the participants and Barbara Susan Booth felt honoured to sponsor and assist them in the process. New groups are now blossoming in Ontario to support the facilitation of this work as an inspirational process of self-discovery and creative insight.

The Training was held at Loyola House, Ignatius Jesuit Centre for an inclusive fee of $559.35. Loyola House accommodations and delicious meals were an addition.

On Sunday Oct. 14, 2012, Goldie Sherman (in red sweater) led 8 participants in a wonderful and unique creative workshop “Thin Spaces” where we each made a beautiful nicho treasure following an introduction of creative movement. Goldie’s skilled facilitation welcomed all of us to a delightful and moving inner and outer experience. The workshop was held at Flo Studio in Guelph and the admission was $75.00. Sacred Wisdom Centre contributed by organizing the event for Goldie.
